What is PDL?

Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL) safely and effectively removes discolorations, including rosacea, sun-spots, age spots, freckles, as well as other vascular and pigmented abnormalities such as poikiloderma, port wine stains, facial veins and leg veins.

Vbeam® Perfecta is a Best-In-Class Pulsed Dye Laser. It delivers pulsed dye laser energy at a wavelength of 595nm that passes through the dermis and epidermis skin layers and is absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin in the blood vessels rather than by the surrounding tissue.

How Does PDL work?

An intense but gentle burst of light is delivered to targeted areas of the skin. There it’s absorbed by the blood vessels or melanin pigmented areas, safely treating the condition.

Most patients notice results right away, and it’s safe for all skin types.

  • Red, flushed faces
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Facial veins
  • Port wine stains
  • Stretch marked skin
  • Spider Veins
  • Scars

During the procedure patients often report a warming or tingling sensation, although anesthetics are usually not required. Skin receives additional protection through a Dynamic Cooling Device™, which delivers a cooling burst of cryogen before the laser pulse is delivered. This will increase comfort during treatment and minimizes side effects such as redness.

After only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sun spots will fade. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.

Some patients experience redness immediately after the treatment, but it usually goes away in a few hours. Occasionally a laser bruise called purpura may occur; this usually disappears in three to five days.

Following any treatment, you should follow your specialist’s instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen.
